PH Consulate General in Chongqing, Guizhou private enterprises meet to support trade and investment initiatives
Chongqing, 22 March 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing met today with representatives of the Guizhou International Chamber of Commerce for the Private Sector to exchange ideas on two-way trade and investment promotion, as well as facilitating business-to-business (B2B) ties, between the Philippines and Guizhou.
Led by its Executive President and Secretary General, Mr. Zhou Zhaomin, the Chamber expressed keen interest in studying the Philippine market in line with the national policy to internationalize Chinese enterprises. He underlined the Chamber’s commitment to help member companies expand their business overseas initially by organizing a business mission to the Philippines this year.
For her part, Consul General Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo presented an overview of the Philippine market, bilateral trade data and priority investment areas. She highlighted Philippine regulatory reforms to improve the ease the doing of business in the country and touted the provisions of the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act as an attractive proposition for EV investors. “The Philippines possesses many important advantages for foreign investments – a supportive regulatory framework, a rich talent pool, strategic access to key markets, strong intellectual property protection, the presence of mineral reserves and a robust economy,” the Consul General explained.
Accompanying Mr. Zhou were representatives of Guizhou-based private enterprises engaged in commodities trading, cross-border e-commerce, mining, and exhibition services. These are Mr. Cai Daxiong, Chairperson of the Guizhou Pengyue Import and Export Trading Co., Ltd.; Mr. Wu Jiayi, head of the Foreign Legal Department of Guizhou Guida Law Firm; Mr. Wang Lintao, General Manager of Guizhou Dry Entropy International Trade Co., Ltd.; and Ms. Nie Lin, General Manager of Guizhou Ronghe Business Culture Media Co., Ltd.
