PH Consulate General graces delivery ceremony for PH-bound e-trikes from Chongqing, bats for investments in PH electric vehicles

Chongqing, 20 February 2024 – In the Chongqing district of Bishan today, Consul General Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo attended, as Guest of Honor, the delivery ceremony conducted by Chongqing E-Cars for the shipment of the first batch of e-tricycles custom-built for Pakil, Laguna.

Engineer Eric Li, President of Chongqing E-Cars, himself designed the e-trikes according to conditions obtaining in the town of Pakil with further refinements after a three-month test run.  The battery-powered vehicle has a carrying capacity of 5 to 7 passengers with a maximum speed of 50 kilometers per hour.  Each e-trike can travel for up to 160 kilometers on a single charge.   

At a business presentation following the ceremony, Chongqing E-Cars President, Mr. Eric Li, confirmed his company’s plans to set-up assembly plants in various parts of the Philippines.  He thanked the Philippine Consulate General for supporting Chongqing e-Cars’ overseas venture. 

Recalling her first meeting with Mr. Li in October 2021, Consul General Mayo congratulated e-Cars for its successful production of custom-built e-tricycles for the Philippines.  She   reiterated the Consulate General’s readiness to further assist e-Cars in navigating suitable locations in the Philippines according to its future investment plans.  “Chongqing E-Cars’ local assembly of e-trikes in the Philippines will contribute to the attainment of our green transportation goals and the development of the country’s electric vehicle industry, in accordance with R.A. 11697 or the Electric Vehicle Industry Act,” she added.

Also in attendance at the event were representatives of Allied Commercial Bank-Chongqing Branch.
