Consular Outreach and 121st Anniversary of Philippine Independence in Kunming, Yunnan Province
16 June 2019, Kunming. On 15 June 2019, the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing conducted a consular outreach for the Kunming Filipino Community (KFC), which was followed by the celebration of the 121st Anniversary of Philippine Independence and 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing, at the Kaiwah Plaza Hotel in Kunming, Yunnan Province.
As Kunming is more than 600 kilometers away from Chongqing, the Filipinos based in Kunming took the opportunity to avail themselves of the consular services offered by the Consulate such as acknowledgment/notarial services, registration/consular ID for Filipinos, NBI fingerprint certification, certification on legal capacity to contract marriage and travel tax certification.
The reception in celebration of the 121st Anniversary of the Philippine Independence and the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing started at 06:00 PM, with a total attendance of forty-seven (47).
Mr. Gilbert Unica, the coordinator of the Kunming Filipino Community (KFC), welcomed and introduced Consulate’s personnel. Vice Consul Adrian G. Miras imparted to the Filipino Community the Independence Day Message of Sec. Teodoro Locsin, Jr. Consul General Crescente R. Relacion delivered an inspirational message, where he also took the chance to advise Filipinos on the importance of saving and financial literacy, among others. He then read out the Independence Day Message of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Likewise, Consul General Relacion awarded a certificate to Mr. Byrone Lindsey Ng of Oishi, who was present at the event, for his support to the recently concluded Philippine Food Week, Philippine Tourism and Culture Festival, and the celebration in Chongqing of the 121st Anniversary of the Philippine Independence and the 10th Anniversary of the Consulate’s establishment.
The members of the Kunming Filipino Community prepared special performances during event, which made the occasion even more lively. END
