Chongqing PCG Conducts Consular Outreach and VAW Campaign in Chengdu
09 December 2018 - The Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing conducts a consular outreach in Chengdu, Sichuan Province on Sunday, 09 December 2018.
The outreach was requested by the Filipino Community in Chengdu, Sichuan Pinoy Associates Group (SIPAG) during the undersigned meeting in August 2018. Sichuan Province is under the jurisdiction of Beijing PE but due to Chongqing PCG proximity to Sichuan Province, the latter was designated by the former to conduct the outreach on its behalf.
The President of SIPAG, Ms. Graciela “Chelly” Blisset, welcomed the four (4) members of the Consulate team led by Vice Consul Adrian Miras. SIPAG was also celebrating their Christmas Gathering on the same date.
In a short message of Vice-Consul Miras to the Filipino Community in Chengdu, he greeted the members of community a Merry Christmas and apologized for the long period of time that the Filipino Community in Chengdu waited before the Consulate was finally able to conduct the outreach. He also mentioned that aside from the services to the consular outreach, the Consulate also wishes to raise awareness among members of the community to the Philippine Commission on Women’s 18th Day campaign to end violence against women (VAW). He mentioned that on 08 December 2018, the Consulate’s held a VAW forum among the members of the community in Chongqing. The brochures on VAW and Anti Trafficking in Persons are distributed by the Consulate’s consular team.
A total of twenty nine (29) members of the Community, 19 women and 10 men from the seventy three (73) attendees availed the Consulate team’s services. Other attendees updated their contact details against the Consulate’s master list of Filipinos in Chengdu, Sichuan. END
